"Niedersächsische Hafenvertretung" (Lower Saxony port representation), Seaports of Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony) and Arbeitsgemeinschaft Niedersächsische Seehäfen (Lower Saxony Seaports Working Committee) elect new members to boards

The "Niedersächsische Hafenvertretung e. V." (NHV) has elected its board of directors for the next two years at a general meeting. The new Chairman of the Board is Karsten Dirks, EVAG Emder Verkehrs und Automotive Gesellschaft mbH, Emden, who is replacing Dr. Andreas Schmidt, Rhenus Midgard GmbH & Co. KG, Nordenham after a period of two years in office. Dr. Schmidt will remain a member of the board. His colleagues on the board, who were confirmed in office, are Uwe Jacob, Lower Saxony Ministry of Economics, Labour and Transport, John H. Niemann, Wilhelmshavener Hafenwirtschaftsvereinigung e. V. (Wilhelmshaven Port Business Association e. V.) and Hans-Peter Zint, Hafenwirtschaftsgemeinschaft Cuxhaven e. V. (Port Economic Community Cuxhaven e. V.).

As the Chairman of NHV, Karsten Dirks also takes over the chairmanship of the port marketing company, Seaports of Niedersachsen GmbH. In addition, the NHV again appointed Jan Müller, J. Müller AG, Brake, for the seaport of Brake, and Herwig Friedrichs, Stadtwerke Leer (Public Utilities Leer), for the communal seaports of Leer, Oldenburg and Papenburg to the supervisory board of Seaports of Niedersachsen GmbH.

At the same time, Mr. Dirks is replacing Dr. Schmidt as the spokesperson for the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Niedersächsische Seehäfen. This association is the political arm of the seaports in Niedersachsen. On the common platform of the Lower Saxony coastal Chambers of Commerce (IHKs) in Emden, Oldenburg and Stade, the association represents the political interests of the Lower Saxony seaports economy in dealings with the state, the Federal Republic and the EU.
