EVAG is particularly active in the field of automobile handling. Included in this are the import and export by sea, warehousing, the loading and unloading of railway waggons and the permanent administration of the shipment by IT. Emden is the third largest vehicle handling seaport in Europe behind Zeebrügge and Bremerhaven. In 2008 over 1,080,000 vehicles passed through the Port of Emden. Besides the export business the import of brand new vehicles is also increasing in importance.
